How to make your Botox results last longer?

Botox has the ability to relax targeted muscles to soften the aging process into your problem areas like crow's feet, forehead and glabella (in between the eyebrows). Certainly Botox does a lot of wonders, but sadly it does not last forever. Normally, Botox can last anywhere between 4-6 months depending on your body and your natural metabolism. However, there’s a lot you can do to ensure your Botox results last longer. Here are some tips:

  • Choose the right doctor. Pick a doctor that is experienced and knows how to properly administer Botox. If you pick a doctor who’s inexperienced at administering Botox, your Botox results aren’t going to last as long as they should. Actually, there’s been some cases where Botox has only lasted three months because it wasn’t properly injected. But, if you choose a doctor who’s reputable and experienced, your Botox results can last even longer than six months.
  • Avoid applying any kind of masks, scrubs, toners, and abrasive cleansers for at least a week after receiving Botox injections. Doing so can disrupt the Botox in your face. Within two to seven days, you’ll start seeing results, but until then, let your skin recover by leaving it alone.
  • Get Botox treatments regularly. If you have Botox sessions periodically, then your muscles will become weaker over time, which will make the Botox’s effects last longer.
  • Quick Reminder: you don’t want to have Botox treatments too frequently. Why? Because there’s a chance your muscles will become resistant to Botox. You’ll want to space your treatments at least 12 weeks apart. If you have particularly strong muscles, opt for higher dose of Botox instead of overdoing it.
  • Avoid the sun. Sun exposure boosts blood circulation, causing blood vessels to dilate, potentially dispersing Botox faster than normal. If you can’t stay away from the sun just make sure to wear a sunscreen with an SPF 30+.
  • Try Zytaze. Made from zinc, Zytaze reportedly makes Botox work faster and last a little bit longer. Since Botox requires zinc in order to work, the idea of the Zytaze enzyme supplement is that it is supposed to help absorb zinc from your diet. But, you’ll want to start taking it a few days before your Botox injections.
  • Believe it or not, experts suggest that moving the muscles you just had injected may actually help Botox last longer. So don’t be afraid to make weird faces or laugh as you usually do. But, as always, make sure to ask your doctor first.
